The main goal for patients who are looking for upper eyelid filler, is to recreate an almond shaped eyelid appearance. If you look at the outline of the eyelash line, it is always almond shaped. However, as the upper eyelid hollows, the upper eyelid fold/crease opens up and makes the eye appear more “round” and less almond shaped. Adding volume to the skin below the eyebrow, recreates a tighter frame around the upper eyelid, which in turn forms a nicer almond shaped eye. Note that this appearance looks natural, and does not require surgical tightening of the outer corner of the eyelid (canthoplasty/canthopexy). Some before and after photos of tightening of the outer corner of the eyelid does not address the upper eyelid hollowing. This will change the canthal tilt of the eye, making the eyes look more “Asian” yet not really achieve the almond shaped eye which they most likely had in youth.
