A Facelift is one of the most popular and well known procedures for facial rejuvenation available. Facelift surgery, or Rhytidectomy, is a procedure to remove facial wrinkles and excess skin that have appeared due to aging and facial volume loss. To accommodate the wide spectrum of skin sagging and aging experienced by his patients, Dr. Yang utilizes a variety of Facelift techniques. Most importantly, Dr. Yang focuses on creating a result that provides his patients with the youthful contours, shapes, and features that made and continue to make their appearance unique.

Dr. Yang’s Facelift procedures effectively rejuvenate and correct many common signs of aging, including:

  • Smile Lines, or Nasolabial Folds, are lines or folds extend from the sides of the mouth upwards to the nose. As people age, smile lines change into deeper grooves and become more pronounced over time.
  • Jowling refers to the tissue that has gathered on the jawline due to the constant pull of gravity on the cheeks and face. A Facelift repositions the cheek fat pads to transform the squared jaw appearance caused by the emergence of jowls and restores a more youthful contour to the jawline.
  • Sagging Skin is often due to loss of volume and fat and can create a gaunt or hollow appearance as we age. A Facelift remedies these hallmarks of aging by repositioning facial tissue and removing the excess skin.

Facelift Procedures

When people refer to the Facelift procedure, they may not know it is in fact an umbrella term for various types of facial procedures that lift and reposition facial tissue. Depending on the needs of each individual patient, Dr. Yang might suggest one of the following techniques on it’s own or in combination:

  • Lower Facelift
  • Mini-Facelift
  • Lower Facelift and Necklift (Necklift Plus)
  • Mid-face/Cheeklift

Recovery

Recovery from Facelift procedures is quite minimal and most patients experience little to no pain a day or two following their surgery. Depending on the type of Facelift performed, there may be some temporary numbness in the neck and/or lower face region. The numbness typically subsides in 1-2 weeks. While patients do experience bruising from these procedures, it is usually mild and localized to the neck and lower face region.

Sutures are removed at 5 and 8 days following the procedure, and the scars at that point are faint red lines that become virtually undetectable a month following surgery. Most of Dr. Yang’s patients are able to return to work 1-2 weeks following the procedure and exercise 2 weeks later.
